Please do not feed the Artist

Might as well post some of my insomnia-fuelled headswill here.

I recently got the urge to start designing some Magitek-type creatures. What I have so far:

The Automaton Hellhound:


And a Clockwork Griffon:


I've never really tried drawing mechanical aspects, before. I think I need more practice.

Not bad. Smile I'd say practice on the Griffin's mechanical aspects. Razz The Hellhound looks great, though!

Yes, drawing all the little gears and sprockets inside the Griffon was probably a little ambitios of me. Oh well, live and learn. I'll be working on some more, soon.

I drew a robotic version of my character Alex. Maybe use it for some inspiration? I used lots of hydraulics, gears, sprockets, ballbearings, the works. Smile

Sure; I've never really paid attention to mechanical things before, so I could really use references.

Sure, whenever.

I kind of like the Flourescent Phoenix myself; I picture like a gigantic robotic bird, and instead of fire the glow is coming from sections of flourescent/neon tubing... I probably couldn't pull it off right, but what I see in my mind is to awesome not to attempt.

Well, I think you have the potential to do it. Sketch it out a few times. You'll get it right! Razz I can imagine it right now.

Oh, and as for the pic, I'll have to search my piles of junk to find it. xD No problem though!

You're in luck, because I just found it. (:

Here's robot, Alex, known as Al-X:


Her body consists of cybernetic parts, yet, she still has parts of her flesh remaining. The tube attatched to her neck that flows into her arm is what keeps her body balanced(sort of like the liquid in our ear tubes keeps us balanced). She has a scanner over one eye for analyzing data. She has one robot leg with rocket launchers and propellers, as well as rocket skates. She has one clawed arm that allows her to still dig and climb with it. So, here's what I got. xD

Nobody truly sucks at drawing. It just requires practice. Alittle or alot depending on the person. Razz

Gorgeous work, Vayne. You definately have a flair for this type of art. Looks awesome. Can't wait to see more (especially the unicorn; am rather partial to horses myself ^^ Will make 1 request though; I prefer seeing unicorns with cloven hooves, goat's beards and lion-like tails than horse hooves andhorse-like tails. I dunno, I just feel like they look like magic pixie horses with horse tails and 1 toed hooves; the 2 toed, lion tailed beasts feel more mythical and monstral, but that's just me. You draw him however yo want ^^
